Important Safety Instructions
- Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.
- Do not use this unit near water.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not block any ventilation openings. Utilize in accordance with the instructions.
- Do not install near any heat source such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized/grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two prongs – one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two prongs plus a third grounding prong. The wide prong or the third prong are provided for your safety. When the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
- Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the unit.
- Only use attachments/accessories that are specified by manufacturer.
Connecting the Power
AC/DC Power Operation
Follow these steps to connect the power:
- Firmly and securely insert the DC plug of the adaptor into the DC jack on the back of the unit.
- Insert the AC adaptor plug into the 120V AC outlet. When the AC power cord is plugged in, the batteries are automatically disconnected (we recommend you remove batteries while using AC power).
Battery Operation
Unplug the DC jack at the back of the unit. Open the battery cover and put the batteries inside the battery compartment, as indicated.
Battery Precautions
When using batteries in this device:
- Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
- Follow correct polarity when installing batteries as indicated in the battery compartment.
- Do not mix different types of batteries (e.g. Alkaline or Carbon-zinc) or old batteries with new ones.
- If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.
- Do not try to recharge batteries that are not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions).
Installing the Remote Control Battery
- Remove the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control by pushing the tab to the right while removing the cover.
- Insert a 3V lithium battery (CR2025 or equivalent) following the polarity (+) as shown on the diagram inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover.
Precautions When Using Batteries
- It is hazardous if battery is not inserted correctly. Replace only with the same or equivalent battery type.
- Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. alkaline, rechargeable and standard (carbon zinc) or old batteries with new ones.)
- Dead batteries must be removed to prevent possible leakage.
- Dispose of batteries properly in accordance with environmental regulations in your region.
Control Diagrams
Radio and CD Operation
Listening to Radio
- Plug the included AC adapter into the power outlet to power the unit. Connect the small end of DC jack at the back of main unit.
- Slide the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position.
- Slide the BAND switch to select AM/FM ST band.
- Rotate the TUNING control knob to search for the desired station.
- Rotate the VOLUME control knob to set the desired volume.
- To turn the unit off, slide the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE/POWER OFF position۔
Listening to Music CDs or MP3 Files
- Plug the included AC adapter into the power outlet to power the unit. Connect the small end of the DC jack at the back of the unit.
- Open the CD door by pressing the OPEN button near the CD door. Insert the disc into the disc compartment, title side facing up.
- Close the CD door. Slide the FUNCTION switch to the CD/MP3/USB/AUX position. “– -” is displayed for few seconds, and the total number of tracks on the CD will show on the LCD display, and automatically begin playing the first track.
- During CD play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to pause the CD; press again to resume.
- Press and release the SKIP FORWARD or SKIP BACKWARD button to jump to the next or previous track.
- Press and hold the SKIP FORWARD or SKIP BACKWARD button to search rapidly within a track to find a specific location.
USB Operation
Listening to Music on USB (MP3 format)
To playback the recorded contents from a USB stick, make sure that no other external devices are connected.
- Slide the USB cover up. Plug the USB stick into the USB port. Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD/MP3/USB/AUX position (“—” will display).
- Press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE (CD USB) button to enter USB mode. “—” will disappear and the USB indicator will appear on the LCD display along with the total number of files. Then, it will automatically play the first file on the USB stick.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to pause; press again to resume playing.
- Press and release the SKIP FORWARD or SKIP BACKWARD button to jump to the next or previous file.
- Press and hold the SKIP FORWARD or SKIP BACKWARD button to rapidly search within a file to locate specific content.
- During playback, press the FOLDER+ button to skip to the next folder.
- During playback, press the FOLDER- button to skip to the previous folder.
Recording from Cassette Tape
- Slide the FUNCTION switch to the TAPE/ POWER OFF position.
- Press the OPEN button of the cassette door to open the compartment.
- Insert a cassette tape into the cassette compartment; then close the door.
- Insert a USB stick into the USB port.
- Press the PLAY button on the top of the unit to play back the cassette.
- Press the REC button on the front of the unit to start recording.
Recording from AUX
- Slide the function switch to the CD/MP3/ USB/AUX position.
- Connect an external audio source (phone, tablet, etc.) using an AUX In Cable (not included) to the 5050ULTRA AUX port.
- Start playing the audio source.
- Press the REC button on the front of the unit to start recording.
- Press the STOP button on the front of the unit to stop the recording.
Recording from CD
- Slide the function switch to the CD/MP3/USB/ AUX position.
- Open the CD door on the top of the unit and insert a CD with the label facing up.
- Select the desired track to record and press the PAUSE button located on the front of the unit.
- Insert a USB stick into the USB Port.
- Press the REC button on the front of the unit and “ONE” will appear on the LCD display and flash
Repeat and Program Operation
To Repeat One Track on Music CD, MP3 or USB
- During CD/MP3 disc or USB playback, press SKIP FORWARD or SKIP BACKWARD button to select a track you wish to repeat.
- Press the PROG/MODE button until the “REP” indicator shows on LCD display. The unit will play the desired track repeatedly.
- To cancel the setting, press the PROG/ MODE button continuously until the “REP” “REP ALL” “RAN” “ALBUM” indicators disappear.
To Repeat the Entire Disc or USB
- During CD/MP3 disc or USB playback, press the PROG/MODE button continuously until the “REP ALL” indicator shows on the LCD display. The unit will play all tracks on the disc repeatedly.
- To cancel the setting, press the PROG/ MODE button continuously until the “REP” “REP ALL” “RAN” “ALBUM” indicators disappear.
To Play Music CD or MP3 Disc or USB Randomly
- During CD/MP3 disc or USB playback, press the PROG/MODE button continuously until the “RAN” indicator shows on LCD display. The unit will play all tracks randomly.
- To cancel the setting, press the PROG/ MODE button continuously until the “REP” “REP ALL” “RAN” “ALBUM” indicators disappear.
To Repeat Album (Folder) for MP3 Disc or USB
- During MP3 disc or USB playback, press the PROG/MODE button continuously until the “ALBUM” indicator shows on LCD display. The unit will play all content on Disc or USB folder (album) repeatedly.
- To cancel the setting, press the PROG/ MODE button continuously until the “REP” “REP ALL” “RAN” “ALBUM” indicators disappear.
To Repeat Programmed Playlist
- During programmed play, press PROG/ MODE button once to repeat the specifically programmed playlist.
- Press PROG/MODE button again to repeat all of the programmed playlist.
- Press the STOP button to cancel repeat play on programmed playlist.
AUX-IN Operation
Requires a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Connect a 3.5mm audio cable to the AUX IN on the unit and an audio output from an MP3 player or other audio source.
- Slide the FUNCTION switch to the CD/MP3/USB/AUX position.
- Use the controls on the connected MP3 player or other audio source to play and control audio played through the unit.
