  3. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
  4. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way. In the event the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. In the event it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
  5. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
  6. Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
  7. Do not use outdoors or operate when aerosol spray products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.

  11.  Avoid contact with moving blades.

  13. During use, do not place or leave the clipper where it may be subject to damage by the animal or exposed to the weather.

OPERATE ON VOLTAGE SPECIFIED ON CLIPPER:

Not all clippers have an adjustable blade. If you have a deluxe adjustable clipper, the following instructions apply to your clipper. The adjustable clippers have a blade that enables you to cut hair at various lengths. To adjust: Move the thumb blade adjustment lever down for coarse (B) cutting and up for fine (A) cutting.

OPERATING THE CLIPPER:

  1. Remove the blade guard from the unit which covers the teeth of the blades.
  2. Disperse a few drops of Oster® Premium lubricating Oil across the blades. Wipe off excess with
    1. a clean, dry cloth.
  3. Clean clippings from the blades using a cleaning brush or an old toothbrush. Wipe the housing with a clean, dry cloth.
  4. Before replacing the blade guard for storage, spread one or two drops off.

BLADE SHARPENING:

Oster® cutting blades are of individual hollow-ground design, hardened to extend cutting life. As with any cutting instrument, the cutting edges will become dull with usage. Increasing blade tension to force dull blades to cut can cause the clipper to heat reduce motor life, and further shorten blade life. When the cutting blades no longer cut smoothly and cleanly, sharpening is necessary.

When sharpening blades becomes necessary, send blades to SM or an Authorized Service Center (see service manual for listings) where approved methods, equipment, and proper knowledge are used to restore the original hollow-ground design and best cutting ability sharpening blades by flat grinding or any method contrary to the design and construction of Oster® cutting blades is not recommended.

LUBRICATING THE BLADES
A light film of oil should be maintained on the surface of the cutting blades. Oiling the blades frequently while in use will help keep the blades cleaner. Clean blades cut better. To clean blades, dip the teeth into Oster® Blade Wash® cleaner with the clipper running. DO NOT IMMERSE THE CLIPPER. Remove from the mixture and, while holding the clipper with the blade end down, wipe the blades dry with a clean, dry cloth. Re-oil blades.
