Congratulations on your purchase of the VIPERTEK VTS-979 Stun Gun! This model comes with a wrist strap, disable pin. This is a safety feature that disables the stun gun if it is taken away from you in a fight.
- Warning
Do not discharge the stun gun into the air for more than 1 second at a time as this will damage the unit and void the warranty. - Flashlight
Move the On/Off switch to the center position to activate the LED flashlight. - Stun Gun
Insert the safety pin (located at the end of the wrist strap) in the receptacle at the bottom of the stun gun. Move the On/Off switch to the top (On) position. The red light comes on to indicate the stun gun is armed. Press the round discharge button to activate the stun gun. - Charging
Connect the power cord to the bottom of the stun gun and plug the other end into a standard 110v AC electrical outlet. Charging time is about 6 to 8 hours. Do not overcharge the battery as this will shorten the battery’s life span. After this initial charge, you will only need to charge the stun gun for 1 to 2 hours every month to ensure that your stun gun is fully charged. - Testing
With the stun gun armed, press the round discharge button for one second. A bright spark will be generated between the electrodes. Do not discharge the stun gun into the air for more than 1 second at a time as this will damage the unit.
Using the Stun Gun
- With the stun gun armed, hold the electrodes against the body of the assailant and press the round discharge button. The most effective locations are the shoulders, hips, thighs, buttocks, and below the rib cage.
- While holding the stun gun against the assailant, you will not see or hear the spark. The stun gun cannot be damaged by continued firing into the body of an assailant. Do not discharge the stun gun into the air for more than 1 second at a time.
Effects of the Stun Gun
A shock from a stun gun lasting one second or less will cause pain and minor muscle contractions. Stunning the assailant for one to two seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Stunning the assailant for three to five seconds will cause loss of balance and muscle control.

- This device is only allowed to be carried by persons 18 years of age or older. Purchaser must only use the stun gun in a lawful manner for self defense. Purchaser must also agree to hold harmless the importer, distributor, and retailer for any illegal or misuse of this product.
- Check your local and state regulations to determine if possession of this device is legal in the jurisdiction it is carried in. Keep away from children and flammable materials. To avoid accidental discharge, always move the on/off switch to the off position when not in use.
