Get Started
Step 1 – Wind the Bobbin
- Place your thread spool on the spool pin and put the thread spool cover on top.
- Pull at the thread to pull it out, and wind it around the bobbin winding tension disc.
- Then, wrap the thread around the bobbin a few times to secure it. Slide the bobbin pin to the right to lock the bobbin in place for winding.
- Apply gentle pressure to the foot pedal to begin loading the bobbin with thread. When the required amount of thread is loaded, remove pressure from the foot pedal.
- Slide the bobbin pin back to the left and remove the bobbin from the bobbin pin.
Step 2 – Threading the Upper Half of the Machine
- Place your thread spool on the spool pin and put the thread spool cover on top.
- Pull at the thread to pull it out, and wrap the thread around the thread guide.
- Follow the directional arrows on your sewing machine by pulling the thread through the thread guide and towards you. Ensuring the thread is centralised, you should be making a long and narrow “U” shape with your thread.
- Feed the thread through the take up lever.
- Make sure you are inserting the thread from the right hand side of the hole.
- Ensure that your thread has been fed through the final directional arrow marked on the machine and feed your thread through the metal hole at the top of the needle.
- Thread the thread in to the eye of the needle.
Step 3 – Threading the Bobbin Through the Machine
- Once you’ve threaded up the upper half of the machine, remove the bobbin cover and insert your loaded bobbin.
- Feed the thread to the left ensuring that the thread is tucked in to the inside of the bobbin.
- Gently pull the bobbin’s thread ensuring that the bobbin spins clockwise.
- Slide the bobbin cover back on and ensure that the presser foot is raised.
- Hold the thread that is through the needle with your left hand and turn the hand wheel with your right hand. Watch the bobbin as you turn the hand wheel.
- When you see a loop pass over the top of the bobbin, continue turning the hand wheel until the needle is raised.
- Pull the thread through until you see a loop appear out of the machine.
- Pinch the loop and pull the threads until all of the bobbin’s thread is through the machine. Your machine is now ready to use.
Changing the Needle
- Turn off your machine, remove thread from the needle and use the hand wheel to position your needle at the highest point.
- Gently hold on to the needle with your left hand and loosen the needle by turning the needle clamp towards you.
- Remove the needle and dispose of it safely.
- Take your new needle and position it so that the flat side is facing away from you. Put the needle back in to the needle hole and tighten the needle clamp by turning it away from you.
Fabric Guide
Correctly Threaded Machine
- Thread should be taut and fed through all of the thread guides and the bobbin should be fed through the machine.
- Threads shouldn’t be slack and unthreaded through the thread guides. The Bobbin must be fed through the machine before use.
