Key details

Before the new Creative T40 speakers we had people rated this so much, and Riyadh, Andy and I were giggling with delight when they arrived. Fortunately, our childish embarrassments are not in vain, for they are rooted in our expectations. For those who are a bit confused by these mysterious T40s, I can point you to the link above for some background reading, but I’ll be happy to give you a quick rundown.

Essentially, Creative took a storm in April 2007 when they released a seemingly flawless 2-piece set. 0 Desktop speakers, Gigaworks T20s. We were amazed by the quality of the sound they produced and loved their style – and we’re not happy with the £50 price tag either.

The Creative Gigaworks T40s (old and new) are about a foot high, and the new Series II versions are both deeper and taller than previous models – exactly 31 x 14 x 9 centimeters. In that case, they’re definitely pretty impressive on a tabletop speaker. However, as a 2.0 setup, at least you don’t have a huge subwoofer to deal with.

Also, if you have a large monitor (24 inches and above) on your desk, the ratio of these indicators will be better than some spares. However, while these new T40s share the same form as the old ones, there are many differences in many other areas. First, the color scheme has changed, the front panel is now finished in glossy black, decorated with thousands of subtle bright blue spots. I can’t say that I find it more beautiful than before, especially because it shows the dust on it. That said, it doesn’t stop me from buying them.

FAQS

What is the best frequency response for computer speakers?
20 Hz to 20,000 Hz
Ideal speaker frequency response would cover the full spectrum of human hearing, i.e., 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, with a smooth response across this range.
What is the frequency response range?
20 to 20,000 Hz
Frequency response is the range of bass, mids and treble. In the example 20 to 20,000 Hz, the first number represents the bass end of the spectrum while the second number represents the treble end. 20 to 20,000 Hz is generally accepted as the audible frequency range, this is the standard for most headphones.
What frequency is most speech?
In general, the fundamental frequency of the complex speech tone – also known as the pitch or f0 – lies in the range of 100-120 Hz for men, but variations outside this range can occur. The f0 for women is found approximately one octave higher. For children, f0 is around 300 Hz.
How do humans produce sound?
Voice is generated by airflow from the lungs. When the air from the lungs blows through the vocal folds at a high speed, the vocal folds vibrate. The vibrations lead to sounds we call voice. These sounds are shaped to form speech.
