Optional Cover Plate Installation
Use the optional cover plate when:
- Attaching the thermostat to an electrical connection box
- Or when you need to cover a paint gap caused by an old thermostat.
- Separate the Junction Box Adapter from the Cover Plate. The Junction Box Adapter can be mounted to a wall or an electrical box using any of the eight screw holes.
- Insert and tighten the mounting screws supplied with the Cover Plate Kit. Don’t overtighten. Ensure the Adapter Plate is level.
- Attach the UWP by hanging it from the Junction Box Adapter’s top hook and snapping the bottom in place.
- Snap the Cover Plate onto the Junction Box Adapter. Refer to Figure 4 for UWP Mounting System installation.
- Before you begin, turn off the power at the breaker box or switch. Open the package to locate the UWP.
- Position the UWP on the wall. Level and indicate the hole positions.
- To install wall anchors, drill holes and tap them into place using a hammer. Drill 7/32″ holes in the drywall.
- Pull open the door and insert the wires through the UWP’s wiring hole..
- Place the UWP above the wall anchors. Insert and tighten the mounting screws included with the UWP. Don’t overtighten. Tighten until the UWP stops moving. Close the door.
Setting Slider Tabs
Set the R Slider Tab.
- Use the built-in jumper (R Slider Tab) to distinguish between one or two transformer systems.
- If there is only one R wire connected to the R, Rc, or RH terminal, move the slider to the up position (1 wire).
- If one wire is attached to the R terminal and one to the Rc terminal, move the slider to the down position (2 wires).
- The Slider Tab can be used to navigate between terminals. See “Setting Slider Tabs” above.
- The THP9045A1023 Wire Saver Module is utilized on heat/cool systems that have only four wires at the thermostat and require a fifth wire for a common wire.
Installer setup (ISU)
- To enter the advanced menu, press and hold CENTER and buttons for around 3 seconds.
- To enter ISU, press Select.
- Press Select to go through the menu setting choices.
- Press or to change values or choose from the available options.
- Press Select to confirm your selections, or Back to ignore the changes and return to the ISU menu screen to adjust another setup parameter.
- To end the setup process and save your settings, press Home to return to the Home screen.
Installer System Test
To run a system test:
- To enter the advanced menu, press and hold CENTER and buttons for around 3 seconds.
- Use to navigate to TEST. To enter System Test, use the Select button.
- Use to toggle between Heat, Cool, Fan, Em Heat, and Ver (thermostat version). Choose Select.
- Press to turn on one stage at a time, then press to turn it off.
- To exit the system test, press the Home button.
