FAQ

Q: How do I know if selfy™ is on or off?
A: The LED on selfy™ will blink every 4 seconds when it is on.

Q: When will selfy™ go into standby mode?
A: Selfy™ will go into standby mode if there is no activity for one minute. To wake it up and resume use, press the button once. The link between selfy™ and your device will be re-established within three seconds. If selfy™ has not been used for five minutes it will power down. To turn it back on, hold the button for four seconds.

Q: How do I turn off selfy™?
A: Selfy™ will automatically turn off if there is no activity for five minutes. The LED will blink three times and then stop blinking when it powers off.

Q: Why does pressing the shutter button on selfy™ raise my phone’s volume setting when I am not in camera mode?
A: Selfy™ is designed specifically to work with iOS by using the iPhone’s volume button to take pictures/videos. Since selfy™ is linked to the volume button, it will take pictures/videos in camera mode, but turn the volume up when outside of camera mode. To take pictures/videos with selfy™, just activate your phone’s camera app and press the selfy™ button.

Q: I just turned on/unlocked my phone, but how come I can’t take any pictures/videos when I use selfy™?
A: Selfy™ can only be used to take pictures/videos if your phone is in camera mode. After you turn on/unlock your phone, make sure selfy™ is paired to your phone, and then go into camera mode to use it.

Q: Why can’t I use selfy™ to take pictures/videos on certain social media apps?

Selfy™ is designed specifically to work with iOS by using the iPhone’s volume button to take pictures/videos. Since certain social media apps do not utilize the volume button’s shutter function, selfy™ will not work with those apps. However, most social media apps allow you to upload pictures/videos from your camera roll so any pictures/videos you take with selfy™ via your phone’s camera app can still be uploaded.

Q: How can I tell if the battery in selfy™ dies and what do I do when that happens?
A: The battery in selfy™ may be weak or dying if you experience issues such as a non-functioning LED and difficulty taking pictures/videos from a distance. To replace the battery, unscrew the circular battery cover on the back of selfy™ and install a new CR2032 lithium battery.

The CR2032 is a common type of battery that is shaped like a coin and can be found in most electronics stores. You may use any brand of battery as long as it is a CR2032. When you install a new battery, make sure you press it in fully so that it lies flat in the chamber. There should be an audible click when this is done correctly.

Troubleshooting:

If you are experiencing issues with the shutter operating properly, use a paper clip or pen tip to press and hold the RESET button located on the side of the unit for 2 seconds. If it still malfunctions, it may be due to a weak battery. Install a new CR2032 battery into the remote and try again.
