CONSUMER INFORMATION
THIS VACUUM IS INTENDED FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

WARNING:
- Do not leave the appliance when plugged in. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before servicing.
- Do not use it outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow it to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Use only as described in this manual. Use only the manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
- Do not use a damaged cord or plug. If the appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center for inspection. Call 1-800-321-1 134 for the nearest service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners.
- Do not run the appliance over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle plugs or appliances with wet hands.
- Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce airflow.

- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Turn off all controls before unplugging.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.
- Look at your vacuum cleaner and follow all label and marking instructions.
- Do not use an extension cord with this cleaner.
- Keep the end of the hose, wands, and other openings away from your face and body. Keep your hands, feet, hair, and clothing away from moving parts; especially the revolving brush.
- Do not use the vacuum cleaner without a dust bag and/or filters in place.
- Store the vacuum cleaner indoors. Put the vacuum cleaner away after use to prevent tripping accidents.
- Using improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the user. Proper voltage is listed on the
cleaner plate.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
ASSEMBLY
TO INSTALL: NOTE: MUST BE USED WITH A PAPER BAG.
- Slide the new paper bag as far as possible over the tabs on the exhaust outlet (Diagram 1). Be sure the rounded side of the paper bag collar is on top.
- Fit the cloth bag around the paper bag. Align arrows on both sides of the black ring with arrows on both sides of the unit making sure the hose clip is on the same side as the hose.
TOOL ASSEMBLY:
- Insert the pointed end of the crevice tool into the hose for storage.
- Push the hose into the clip on the side of the cleaner storage.
HOW TO OPERATE (Attachments vary by model and are not included with all models)
To use brush roll: Keep the front cover in the upright position exposing the revolving brush. To use attachments: Rotate the front cover down to cover the revolving brush completely (Diagram 4). This opens the air passage to the hose. Pull the hose from the clip (Diagram 3). Remove the crevice tool from the inside of the hose before attaching other tools (sold separately) or using the hose alone (Diagram 2). CORD STORAGE Make a loop with the cord. Insert the attached strap through the loop and secure the strap to the tab on the black ring (Diagram 5).
ANY OTHER SERVICING SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE.
CHANGING THE BELT OR BRUSH ROLL
TO REMOVE:
- Grasp the side of the rotating cover and gently pull it out and off (Diagram 1).
- Remove ONE Phillips screw (as noted by the arrow on the side of the housing) to release the nozzle plug (Diagram 2). Slide nozzle plugs down and out.
- Remove the belt from the motor shaft.
- Remove TWO Phillips screws on the end cap (Diagram 3).
- Lift off the endcap and pull the brush roll out of the nozzle cavity.
TO REPLACE
- Slip the belt around the brush and drop the brush into the nozzle cavity. Line up the end of the brush with the inside of the end cap and secure it with two screws.
- Replace the end cap.
