How to use tour Thermometer
Power-On
Single-press the power button to turn on the thermometer. A short beep sound should be made followed quickly by the three-color backlight display, and a quick flash of “188.88” on the screen. The last temperature reading should then come on for about 3 seconds before “–” displays. Now, the thermometer is ready for the next measurement.
Note: On the first use of this thermometer, the last temperature reading will not be available and will thus not be displayed.
Taking the Reading
Properly position the thermometer in any of the specified locations below. Temperature readings take about 10 seconds, and five beeps indicate a completed reading. Measurements will be displayed and can be read on the screen.
Note:
*” T” represents the measured temperature.
If 32°C ≤ T ≤ 37.3°C (89.6°F ≤ T ≤ 99.14°F), the device will beep five times, and the screen will reflect a GREEN backlight, signifying “NORMAL” temperature. If 37.3°C ≤ T ≤ 38.7°C (99.14°F ≤ T ≤ 101.66°F), the device will beep five times, and the screen will reflect an ORANGE backlight, a warning you may have a “LOW FEVER.” If 38.7°C ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C (101.66°F ≤ T ≤ 109.2°F), the device will beep five times, and the screen will reflect a RED backlight, a warning you may have a “HIGH FEVER.”
Power-Off
Single-press the power button to turn off the thermometer instantly, or the device will automatically power off after 90 seconds of inactivity or 60 seconds when in memory mode. Please store the thermometer in a cool, dry place after every use.
Note:
Always clean the probe before and after each measurement to avoid flawed readings and cross-contamination. If the body temperature is below 32℃ (89.6℉), the screen will display “–”. If the body temperature is above 42.9℃ (109.2℉), the screen will display “Hi.”
AVOIDING READING INACCURACY
Accurate readings cannot be guaranteed if the following steps are not adhered to:
Taking Readings Orally
During oral readings, keep the mouth closed until the five beeps are heard. Do not drink or eat very hot or too cold substances, smoke, or perform potential temperature-altering activities before taking your oral temperature reading. These might alter the actual temperature value. To take readings through the mouth (orally):
- Place the thermometer beneath the tongue, on either side of the tongue root.
- Hold the thermometer firmly in place by pushing the tongue down on it.
- Secure the thermometer from the other end with your hand till it beeps.
Taking Readings Rectally
This form of reading is often used on children with whom oral and underarm measurements cannot be conveniently taken. To take readings through the rectum:
- Lubricate the area with a safe, water-soluble gel. Do not use petroleum jelly.
- Gently insert the probe tip no further than 1.3cm into the rectum. Do not force the thermometer in if any resistance is encountered.
- Disinfect the thermometer before and after use to keep it health-safe. Taking Reading through the Underarm (Axillary)
- Place the probe tip at the center of the armpit.
- Lock the thermometer beneath the arm and secure it by pressing the arm further in.
- When taking readings through this method on infants or young children, gently hold down their arm to limit motion till the thermometer beeps.
SPECIAL FUNCTION
Celsius-Fahrenheit Conversion
With the thermometer powered on, press the MODE button for 1 second to switch between Celsius to Fahrenheit, as desired.
Memory Read-Back
With the thermometer powered off, press the MODE button to view the memory log and repeatedly tap the MODE button to scroll through the logged data. If there are no recorded readings, the screen will display “—”
REPLACING THE BATTERY
When “El” flashes on the LED screen, it means the battery is low or drained and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. To replace the battery:
- Use a coin or slim object to screw off the battery cover.
- Take out the low/drained battery.
- Install the new, powered battery in the correct polarities: the “+” side stays face up, and the “-” side stays face down.
- Place the battery cover back on using a coin to lock it in.
ERROR AND TROUBLESHOOTING
CARE AND CLEANING
