Light Ring Colors
In general, these robots will use a series of colors to indicate their current status.
- White – I’m awake and everything is normal.
- Blue – I’m doing something special.
- Red – There’s a problem.
Features
Here are some of the features of iRobot’s light ring colors:
- White: When the light ring is solid white, it indicates that the robot is charging and has not yet completed the charging process.
- Amber: A solid amber light ring indicates that the robot is charging and is close to completing the charging process.
- Green: A solid green light ring indicates that the robot is fully charged and ready to be used.
- Red: A solid red light ring indicates that there is an error or an issue with the robot. In this case, you should consult the user manual to troubleshoot the issue.
- Blue: A pulsating blue light ring indicates that the robot is in the process of connecting to Wi-Fi.
- Purple: A solid purple light ring indicates that the robot is in spot cleaning mode.
- Teal: A solid teal light ring indicates that the robot is in single-room cleaning mode.
- Yellow: A solid yellow light ring indicates that the robot is in manual control mode.
Power On & Charge
Power On
To power your robot on, plug your charging dock in and place the robot on the dock. It may take your robot several minutes to charge.
Charge
While charging, the Create® 3 light ring will show a spinning, bright white light. When fully charged, the light ring will glow a low white.
Setup
Place the Home Base Charging Station or Clean Base on a level surface that is free of obstacles and as close to your router as possible to ensure good Wi-Fi coverage. Then connect the power cable. There should be a small light from the base. There are a few indicators to let you know that the robot is charging:
- When first placed on the Home Base®, the light ring will swirl white.
- The Home Base® LED on top the the Home Base will light up white for four seconds.
- The robot will make a tone after a few short minutes to let you know that it is fully awake.
After one minute, all LEDs on the Home Base and robot will shut off. This feature conserves energy on the robot. A simple press of the CLEAN button wakes the robot up.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of your robot falling downstairs, ensure that the charging station is placed at least 4 ft (1.2 m) away from the stairs.

- Q: Won’t fully charge, 2 months old, wanders 2 feet from charging station and stops. j7 7150 said replace battery. Tried resetting?
- A: Make sure the contact points on robot and charger are clean, dust bend is empty, and it stops short cause battery’s aren’t fully charged
- Q: How can I tell if j7 is fully charged?
- A: The app tells you that when you open it.
- Q: Can you use any cleaner in iRobot mop?
- A: No. iRobot does not recommend to use any cleaning solution other than the one provided by them. You can use water or purchase the cleaning solution from iRobot.
- Q: How long does iRobot Braava battery last?
- A: With proper care, your robot’s battery should last at least 2-3 years before it needs to be replaced. Here are some battery maintenance tips to extend battery life and keep Roomba® cleaning at peak performance: Only use iRobot® batteries.
