Foreword
The Non-Contact Infrared Body Thermometer Operating Instructions intend to provide the necessary information for the proper operation of the VNT275US thermometer. General knowledge of the Non-Contact Infrared Body Thermometer and an understanding of the features and functions of the VNT275US thermometer are prerequisites for proper use. The Non-Contact Infrared Body Thermometer is a medical device and can be used repeatedly for 1 year. Please read the manual before using the device, if you do not fully understand these instructions for use, do not use the thermometer.

Indications for Use

The Non-Contact Infrared Body Thermometer is a non-sterile, reusable thermometer intended to be used for the intermittent determination of human body temperature by consumers of all ages in a home-use environment (such as home settings or places of business as an employee screening tool), in no touch mode, with the forehead as the measurement site.

Safety Information
This device may only be used for the purposes described in these instructions. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by the incorrect application.

Important Safety Instructions:
  • The Non-Contact Infrared Body Thermometer is intended to be used by consumers in a home-use environment (such as home settings or places of business as an employee screening tool).
  • Keep out of reach of children under 12 years.
  • NEVER use the thermometer for purposes other than those for which it has been intended. Please follow the general safety precautions when using on children.
  • NEVER immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning, please follow the instructions in the “Care and Cleaning” section.
  • DO NOT store this thermometer in temperatures below -4°F or over 131°F (extremes below -20°C or over 55°C) or in excessive humidity (up to 93% non-condensing relative humidity).
  • Let the thermometer and the individual being measured acclimate to the temperature of the room for 30 minutes during which the measurement will be taken.
  • Before using, allow the thermometer to remain in the room in which it will be used for 30 minutes. The room temperature should be between 59°F – 95°F (15°C to 35°C).
  • The individual being measured should be indoors for 20 minutes before taking a measurement, as the external temperature can impact skin temperature.
  • In the event that you can’t follow the ambient acclimation guidance due to using this device as a screening tool, the reading displayed may shift up or down as a result of the temperature subjects are coming from compared to the temperature they are being measured in. If that is the case, judge individuals against each other, and any individual that is reading 1.5°F (0.8°C) higher or lower than the normal, should be measured again with the following acclimation.

Temperature Guidance Feature

Temperature guidance helps you to better understand the meaning of your child’s temperature with the color indicated on the display. The screen displays GREEN for a normal temperature, YELLOW for an elevated temperature, and RED for a high temperature. 4 double beeps indicate temperatures above 37.4 °C (99.4 °F) to alert the user that the individual may have a temperature.

Temperature Taking Hints

It is important to know each individual’s normal temperature when they are well. This is the only way to accurately diagnose a fever. Take multiple readings when healthy to determine normal temperature. A child’s normal temperature can be as high as 37.7 °C (99.9 °F) or as low as 36.1 °C (97.0 °F). Be sure to note this unit reads 0.5 °C (0.9 °F) lower than a rectal digital measurement.

ALWAYS hold the thermometer and the forehead steady when taking a reading. DO NOT move the thermometer until you hear the final beep. DO NOT take a measurement while or immediately after nursing a baby. Individuals should not drink, eat, or be physically active before/while taking the measurement. Remove hats and wait 30 minutes before taking a measurement.

Before taking a measurement, remove dirt or hair from the forehead area. Wait 10 minutes after cleaning the forehead before taking a measurement. ALWAYS take the temperature exactly as directed. Temperature results may vary if positioned in the wrong location or wrong distance from the forehead.
