Important Safety Information

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fi re, electric shock and personal injury.

  • Read all instructions.
  • To protect against risk of electrical shock do not put the cord, plug, or motor base in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from the outlet when not in use, before putting or taking off parts and before cleaning.
  • Avoid contacting moving parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Call our toll-free number for information on examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
  • The use of attachments is not recommended.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces including the stove.
  • Keep hands and utensils away from cutting blades while chopping food to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the chopper. A food scraper (spatula) can be used, but must be used only when the chopper is not running.
  • Blades are sharp. Handle carefully.
  • This appliance is intended for processing small quantities of food for immediate consumption. This appliance is not intended to prepare large quantities of food at one time.
  • Be certain the motor and cover are securely locked in place before operating the appliance. Do not attempt to defeat the cover on this unit.
  • The attached motor cannot be used for other than its intended use.
  • Do not remove the lid until the blades have come to a complete stop.
  • Do not make contact with any moving parts.
  • Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use (to chop small amounts of food).
  • This unit is intended for intermittent or short-term operation only.
  • When you pulse the unit for more than 20 seconds at a time, we recommend stopping the motor for a short period to allow the contents of the chopper to settle. This ensures the contents are chopped to a desired result.
  • This appliance is intended for household use only. This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug. This type of plug has one blade wider than the other. The plug will fi t into an electrical outlet only one way. This is a safety feature intended to help reduce the risk of electrical shock. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fi t, contact a qualified electrician to replace the obsolete outlet.
  • Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug by modifying the plug in any way.
  • The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. Do not use an extension cord with this appliance.

Before First Use:

Wash lid, bowl, blade and bowl mat in hot soapy water and rinse well. The blade is sharp; handle with extreme care. Make sure the lid, bowl, blade and bowl mat have dried completely before using the appliance.

  • Place the bowl on a counter or fl at level surface. Carefully slide the blade down over the shaft in the bowl. Be careful not to touch the blade as it is extremely sharp.
  • Place food in the bowl, certain foods may need to be cut to fi t in the chopping bowl.
  • Place the bowl lid onto the bowl, then position the motor onto the bowl. The embossment on the bowl cover is linked with the hole on the motor. It is very important that the holes in the motor and the top of the blade line up completely or the motor will not lock in place. The unit will not operate properly if the motor is not locked in place.
  • Press the power button to activate the chopper. NOTE: It is recommended that you “pulse” the power button while chopping for certain foods. Holding down the power button will cause certian foods to over chop.
  • Make sure the blade stops moving COMPLETELY before removing the motor, you may need to grasp the plastic blade hub to remove the motor, and bowl cover. Unplug the unit. Carefully remove the blade from the bowl prior to removing the processed food. Do not use the bowl for storing food.

Food Type Preparation Tips Bread (Fresh, toasted or stale)

  • Rip the bread into several pieces. Chop only 1 slice at a time. Fruit and Vegetables (Canned or Cooked)
  • If using canned fruit, drain the can of liquid fi rst.
  • It is recommended that you pulse fruit and vegetables as opposed to holding the power switch down. Herbs
  • Wash and dry thoroughly.
  • It is recommended that you pulse herbs. Nuts
  • It is recommended that you pulse nuts. Cookies and Crackers
  • Pulse or process up to 12 average sized cookies or crackers at a time. Fresh Meat
  • Pulse or process up to 120g of fresh meat at at time. For best results, please cut the meat into small cubes prior to chopping.

Care and Maintenance

CLEANING YOUR CHOPPER

  • Always disconnect the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Wash the bowl and blade assembly immediately after each use. The bowl, blade and lid can be washed in the dishwasher. DO NOT PUT THE MOTOR IN THE DISHWASHER OR SUBMERGE IT IN WATER. If the motor becomes dirty, simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, making sure you do not get moisture in the motor.
  • Do not use chemicals, steel wool or sharp objects to clean the unit, this can result in scratching the appliance or damaging the fi nish.

This quality product is warranted to be free from manufacturer’s defects in material and workmanship, provided that the unit is used under the normal operating conditions intended by the manufacturer. This warranty is available only to the person to whom the unit was originally sold by Danby Products Limited (Canada) or Danby Products Inc. (U.S.A.) (hereafter “Danby”) or by an authorized distributor of Danby, and is non-transferable.
