Safety precautions

  1.  Do not expose the thermometer to hot water over 50ºC (122ºF).
  2.  Do not expose the thermometer to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
  3.  Do not drop the thermometer. It is neither shockproof nor impact-resistant.
  4.  Do not open the device except the battery compartment.
  5. Do not bend the device except than the flexible tip. Avoid bending the tip by more than 45 degrees.
  6.  Do not clean with thinners, petrol or benzene. Only clean the thermometer with water or disinfectant.
  7.  Do not immerse the thermometer under water deeper than 15cm(6”) for longer than 5 minutes.
  8.  The thermometer contains small parts (including a battery) which can be swallowed by children. For this reason, do not leave the thermometer unattended in the hands of children.

Operating Instructions

  1.  Please disinfect the probe before use.
  2.  Press the button to activate the thermometer.
  3.  Wait for the beep to sound and the ºC or ºF icon to stop flashing. The measurement is now completed.
  4.  Read the result from the display.

This is a maximum thermometer and the displayed temperature can slightly increase if you leave the thermometer in the measurement position after the beeps. Please follow the instructions described in the “Methods of measuring temperature” section.

Fever alarm
If the detected body temperature exceeds 100.0ºF/37.8ºC the thermometer will sound an alarm:

  • “bi-bi-bi—bi-bi-bi—.” The alarm indicates a fever may be approaching

Auto-off function
When the measurement is completed, switch the thermometer off by pressing the ON/OFF button. If not switched off, the thermometer will switch off automatically after 10 minutes.

Memory function
When the thermometer is switched on, the last measurement will be shown for 2 seconds. Press the button again to turn the thermometer۔

Methods of Measuring Temperature

It is important to remember that the accuracy of the body temperature reading depends on the measurement position. When keeping track of the results, the measurement position must always be specified in order to ensure that a correct temperature reading is recorded.

Rectal Measurement
From a medical point of view, this is the most accurate method because the temperature at this measurement
position is closest to the core body temperature. The thermometer tip is inserted carefully into the rectum
for a maximum of 2 cm (1”). The usual measuring time is approximately 8 to 15 seconds.

Oral Measurement
There are different heat zones in the mouth. As a general rule, the oral temperature is 0.3-0.8˚C (0.5-1.4ºF) lower than the rectal temperature. To ensure that the reading is as accurate as possible, place the thermometer tip to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The thermometer tip should remain in constant contact with the tissue under the tongue during the reading. The mouth should remain closed during the reading. The usual measuring time is
approximately 8 to 15 seconds.

Axillary Measurement is NOT recommended
It is NOT recommended to use this device for taking axillary (under arm) temperature measurements. This quick reading thermometer will not accurately measure the axillary temperature.

Cleaning and disinfection
The best way to clean the thermometer tip is by applying a disinfectant (e.g. 70% ethyl alcohol) with a damp cloth. This waterproof thermometer can be immersed in lukewarm water for thorough cleaning and disinfection.

Calibration Check

This thermometer is initially calibrated at the time of manufacture. If this thermometer is used according to
the operation instruction, periodic re-adjustment is not required. However, if there are indications that the product does not maintain the defined error limits or if the calibration could have been affected by an external factor or by any other means a calibration check should be carried out immediately. For calibration please observe any national statutory or administrative regulations. The calibration check can be carried out by any competent authority or by authorised service providers.

Battery Replacement

The battery is empty and needs replacing when the battery symbol appears on the right of the LCD. To replace the battery. Lay the thermometer with the button downwards on a flat surface. Remove the screw. Pull off the battery cover. Gently slide out the circuit board with the battery chamber, up to 1 cm (0,5 “). Replace the battery by one of the same type (preferably non-mercury) with the “+” polarity facing up. After replacing the battery, reposition the circuit board, the battery cover and the screw. To protect the environment, please do not dispose of batteries as normal waste. Instead, please hand them in at a collection point or municipal recyclable material centre as special waste.
